@JoAn... Thanks for the input. Both of these models have the potential of enabling those delivering at the higher end of the scale to do well by doing good. A much needed potential these days - and one that I'm confident we're going to see more of.

Elegantly simple explanation for how to use the Internet!

From my HR background, I apply this in relationships. It's also a great template for understanding the PREP communication model:

(Listening-> Understanding--> Communication--> Trust)

...where the initial phases of rapport building reflect Data and Information exchanges (sniffing each other out, identifying the CORE Personality, etc) so there is safety in exchanging Knowledge. One of the great difficulties in today's organizations is true free-flow knowledge exchange... data and information ok, but it's the nuance of knowledge where trust and rapport begin to surface from my experience. It's here that relationships matter, as well as misunderstandings.

In Knowledge/Understanding we can begin the relationship that leads to a dialog (Communication) which is the key to organizational success in all the HR models. Interesting to note is this month's HR Magazine "Effective Organizational Communication: A Competitive Advantage" article!

Then comes Wisdom... or equivalently, in our PREP model, Trust.... ay! There's the rub :-) or the first phase of enlightment (I like that, Vijay!)... I agree it can't be distributed, disseminated, purchased, delivered... That, I think, comes from the relationship between the person and the Knowledge and that somehow links back to soul. There's the hope for the world.

So much for my integration into an HR Model--thanks for humoring my fetish!

@Vijay - Thanks for the response. I agree with your astute observation that we can't deliver wisdom. I love your comment - <i>" I should probably say that we create Knowledge out of the Data, which can be used by people to obtain Wisdom - née enlightenment!!"</i>. Spot on.

Thanks for this great article, it really gel'ed with me! I've actually started a company which is trying to distill Wisdom from the huge amounts of data in online communities. I guess, after reading your article, I should probably say that we create Knowledge out of the Data, which can be used by people to obtain Wisdom - née enlightenment!! :)

We also believe that this knowledge will help ecommerce retailers, by converting their browsers into buyers. Would love your thoughts on this.
