		<description>I agree, Penny. rel=canonical isn't going away, even though it's ironic Google is the only engine really supporting it. While I do think it makes sense to use in some situations, I'm also leary of putting too much faith in (what is currently) a Google-specific hack. If you can, 301 and fix things at the foundation. But if you can't, go for the easy link canonical band-aid.</description>

		<description>Nice recap. Very interesting speculation on the use of 302s for cleaning up site structure. We implemented rel canonical several months ago and it certainly hasn't hurt us (best rankings we've ever seen...although certainly cannot attach them directly to the update).

I really think this is a pretty straight forward issue. Google is literally begging sites to implement rel canonical. Seems pretty simple to me.</description>
